A VEGAN WASH DAY

Since the beginning of this pandemic, I had more time to research hair products out on the market. I came across CurlSmith’s products while searching the web for vegan hair care. This product has been on my radar for three years. But, I was reluctant to purchase this product due to the prices because there’s nothing worse than investing money in a product that does not work on your hair. After watching a product review of Curlsmith’s Weightless Air Dry Cream on Alyssa Marie’s youtube channel, I realized that I had the wrong approach when it came to purchasing hair products. All of the hair products that I had in my cabinet had horrible ingredients for my low porosity hair. So, I threw out my hair products and took the curl quiz on Curlsmith’s website to determine which product will be good for my hair. They asked detailed questions about my hair porosity, density, curl pattern, texture, and problem areas to select custom products that will work for my hair. Let’s see what products Curlsmith has chosen for me!

Super Slip Pre-Biotic Primer

When Curlsmith suggested the Super Slip Pre-Biotic Primer, I wondered why I would need to apply a primer before shampooing my hair. From the research that I’ve done on primers, I found that it serves as a protective layer to maintain its moisture before you shampoo. According to Curlsmith, “The super slip prebiotic contains balanced pre-biotics to help create the perfect environment for hair follicles strengthening the scalp and prepping it for clarifying.” I wet my hair, and put a quarter size primer on my hand, and work the product through my hair. I leave the primer in my hair for one minute before applying the Wash and Scrub Detox Pro-Biotic.

Five Main Ingredients:
Glycerin
moisturizes hair and prevents breakage.
PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil
helps to remove grease from oils and causes them to become suspended in the liquid.
Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) root
encourages healthy growth by stimulating the hair follicles and improving scalp circulation.
Inulin
is prebiotic, which is a nutritional compound that feeds the good bacteria.
Citric Acid
improves the scalp condition by getting rid of dandruff.

Wash & Scrub Detox Pro-Biotic

After using the primer, the Wash and Scrub Detox Pro-Biotic gently exfoliates the scalp and removes all impurities to promote a healthy environment for the hair follicles to flourish. People with Low Porosity hair tend to have trouble absorbing moisture, so it’s imperative to have a shampoo that will effectively clean your scalp, making it possible for your pores to open for moisture to penetrate your hair follicles.

Five Main Ingredients:
Lactobacillus ferment Lysate is a probiotic that strengthens the scalp’s protective barrier and helps your hair to grow.
Dragonfruitis a natural antioxidant that calms and clears the scalp creating the perfect condition for growth.
Malva Sylvestris (Mallow) Flower Extracthelps with those who have psoriasis, eczema, and many skin problems that affect the scalp.
Perlite is a micro scrub made of volcanic ash that effectively exfoliates and gets rid of buildup.
Acetic Acid (Vinegar) It is excellent to clarify the hair, get rid of buildup, and enhance your natural healthy shine.

Weightless Air Dry Cream

Curlsmith’s Weightless Air Dry Cream is my favorite product from their scalp line. After applying a deep conditioner, I use Curlsmith’s Weightless Air Dry Cream to add moisture to my hair. This is a lightweight water-based product that provides intense moisture and makes it easier for moisture to absorb in my hair without weighing it down. With fine low porosity hair, it’s essential to have water as the main ingredient because our hair characteristics like to repel moisture. After applying this product to each hair strand, my hair feels silky and soft, making it manageable for me to comb through.

Five Main Ingredients:
Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil enhances hair follicles’ health and promotes hair growth.

Wild Murumurusoften hair, improves manageability, and seals in moisture.
Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oilhelps increase hair growth.
Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)nourishes the hair with Vitamins.

Hold Me Softly Style Balm

I use the Hold Me Softly Style Balm after the Weightless Air Dry Cream. This styling product provides a soft hold on my curls without leaving a hard, crunchy residue.

Five Main Ingredients:
Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil Penetrates the hair shaft due to its molecular weight, cools the scalp, and retains moisture in your hair.
